The SolarCart SG-187 uses a Sharp 187 Watt High Power panel, which is the highlight of the system.
Our solar charging system is comprised of three primary components: the photovoltaic panel with an integrated visor, the charge controller, and the mounting hardware. The panel converts sunlight directly to electricity which either charges the battery or goes straight to the motor during operation. The charge controller monitors and optimizes the charging process. There is also a gauge showing battery status.

Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) Technology
Maximum Power Point Tracking is an electronic feature of the charger controller that allows a solar panel to continually operate at its maximum efficiency. It does not physically move the panels; it is an intelligent electronic system that maximizes the electrical output of the photovoltaic system by varying the panel’s operating voltage. SunGo’s controller extracts the most power possible from the panel in nearly any condition: hot or cold temperatures, varying light levels, partially shaded or dusty panels, and it even accounts for wiring losses. The actual power gain over a non-MPPT controller with the same panel will vary with conditions but a 10-30% gain is typical (see graph).

**SunGo's smart MRRT charge controller is able to adjust constantly the solar panel operative voltage to obtain maximum power available. It then coverts this power to the proper multi-stage charge voltage based on the state-of-charge and ambient technologies. Many systems do not have these abilities and, therefore, only a portion of the solar panel's potential is utilized and the battery life is not maximized.
