There are many ways to approach the learning curve of golf. This article looks at Golf Accuracy and the methods used to achieve the best accuracy possible. The basic premise of Golf Accuracy is the more accurate you are in your overall game the lower your score will be.
Golf Accuracy is associated with your overall game result. As a golfer the more accurate you are, the shorter the course and the lower the score. Golf accuracy is or should be the goal of every golfer and is achieved with the use of the following tools:
- Accuracy Training
- Power Training
- Putting
- DVD Instruction
- Golf Swing Software
- Practice Nets and Mats
- Stretching and Strengthening
Accuracy Training
To improve your golf swing performance you will need to take into account the three factors of accuracy Timing, Tempo and Rhythm.
Timing - Accuracy is achieved through timing. Timing is the way in which forces are applied to the golf club during the swing in turn improving the swing performance.
Tempo - This factor also affects accuracy. The tempo with which you strike the ball affects the accuracy of your swing. Tempo is the overall speed of your swing.
Rhythm - Rhythm is the cycle in which you speed up and down in your swing.
Power Training
Power is totally different from strength and can be developed with practice and training. Power is the ability to produce force quickly which enables every golfer to hit farther. If you have a reduced back swing due to physical issues, making it difficult to reach the 90 degree shoulder turn with the 45 degree hip turn, your swing speed will be too low and will cause loss of power in your swing. If you develop greater power and increase strength and speed, this combination of strength and speed may be better for your golf performance accuracy.
Putting
Aim and execution are primary factors for putting. You must be able to aim where the ball will be sent. This includes the full alignment of the body with the putter especially the shoulders with the feet and then putt the ball along the imaginary aim line. Missing putts is a major problem with golfers and most putts are missed on the left. Usually you are too keen to see where the ball went and you lose your putting posture. Also you are unaware of how much you move during a putt once you realize how much you will be astounded.
DVD Instruction
Golf instruction DVDs cover all aspects of golf accuracy. A good DVD will cover golf grip, posture, ball position, body alignment, through swing, back swing and many more. As well as instruction on specific areas of the game like putting, chipping, pitching and bunker play will also help in improving accuracy.
Golf Swing Software
With the constant technological advancements in computer technology comes the golf swing analysis software. A little more in cost than a instruction DVD but well worth it. With this software a golfer can record video of his or her swing onto a computer and analyze it afterwards. Most golfers never see their swing unless you are a pro at a televised tournament. With the golf swing software you can slow down, speed up and analyze in detail your swing. Many golf pros and trainers use this software to improve their game and provide in depth analysis of students' swings. By improving your swing you also comes improved accuracy.
Practice Nets and Mats
There are so many Golf Nets and Golf Mats available to the golfer. They are compact and portable and most can be used indoors or outdoors safely. This is great for golfers that live in cold climates as they can practice year round. With your own practice mat or net you can improve your hitting with unlimited practice sessions or the associated cost.
Stretching and Strengthening
As a golfer you should pay special attention to stretching and strengthening. Whether, through a fitness program or regular daily exercises. The serious golfer must target areas specific to golf. The benefits of stretching and strengthening happen quickly especially if you target muscles in your shoulders, trunk, forearms and wrists. By exercising for just a few minutes each day you can greatly improve the accuracy of your golf game.
